What We Expect of Our Parents

The Zion Staff does not consider youth ministry just for youth! We can't do youth ministry without parents. These are the things that the church expects of parents of one of the students we are discipling!

          Represent Christ in your home.

Did you know that teenagers need at least 5 adult models to shape their self-image and help them transition into adulthood? At least one of these models is probably at home, maybe two. As your teen's parent, you are the first and last person they will remember when they are making choices daily. Model your instructions to your teen in your own actions - a teen can smell a hypocrite from a mile away. Be the person that you dream your child will be when he is an adult.

Take advantage of the Open Door Policy

We encourage you to be involved in your teen's life at church, from visiting our programs to volunteering!

Visit the Zion Office.

We can't help you if we don't know you. The better we know your family's needs the better we can serve you and your teen.

Volunteer.

You are the lifeblood of ministry at LSUMC and Zion. You teen will watch your involvement in the church, so model a servant's heart. If you have a heart for working with youth, contact the Zion Office at 816-524-4966. If you have an interest in serving outside of the youth department, LSUMC has plenty of roles for you to serve in!
